While Miami has become an international mecca for cutting-edge art, Ft Lauderdale is fast becoming a magnet for emerging artists, galleries, performers, fashion and film. Having shed its Spring Break reputation, Miami's laid-back next door neighbor has morphed into a a tonier art and culture hub. At the heart of the arts scene is FAT Village. This downtown arts district is rapidly gaining notoriety thanks to its monthly ArtWalk, where local artists, galleries and studios open their doors to the art curious. Eggwhites has been catering Fort Lauderdale special events since 1994 but we just recently discovered FAT Village. Fat Village is in fact a gem of an event space, with a number of venues that will satisfy a wide spectrum of personal tastes and event needs.
Southwest Airlines #Heartoftravel Celebration
Ft Lauderdale may have at one time flown under the radar (no pun intended) but the increasing number of airlines that are adding non-stop flights to FLL is evident that it is time to stand up and take notice! We were thrilled to cater the #Heartoftravel event at FAT Village to celebrate the opening of Southwest's new international terminal at FLL. Southwest commissioned local artist Ruben Ubiera to create this magnificent internationally inspired mural on a wall of FAT Village!
CATERING FT LAUDERDALE ARTS + TRAVEL HUB WITH AN ISLAND-THEMED MENU
Our festive menu was designed to transport guests to SWA's new tropical destinations - Grand Cayman, Cancun, Montego Bay and Belize along with three Cuba destinations and Nassau, Bahamas. Guests sipped from coconuts filled with creamy Bahamian Sky Juice, the signature cocktail of the islands (also referred to as Gully Wash by some locals). They enjoyed classic Cuban Mojitos and a favorite Jamaican Planter's punch recipe served two ways - as a cocktail and as a boozy shaved ice!

Eggwhites went island-hopping with passed hors d'oeuvres that captured the special flavors of the Caribbean - Cayman Style Panko Crusted Mahi Mahi with Housemade Mango Ketchup, Jamaican Callaloo with Roasted Red Pepper Aioli and "Cuban Sushi" Ropa Viejo Rolls were among the island-happy savories enjoyed by the guests.
Inkwells set up live printing stations so guests could custom design canvas bags and prints to take home. Ruben was onsite to mingle and autograph bags and prints for all the guests.
Guests were treated to a cigar-rolling demonstration and Eggwhites Catering Ft Lauderdale staff even shed our formal uniform for Cuban Guayabera shirts for this special celebration!
