Eggwhites provided sponsoroship catering for a great cause on Thursday, March 11th for “Chefs with a Purpose: Haiti”. The event benefited International Firefighters Assistance. The International Firefighters Association (IFA) has been providing assistance to Haiti well before the 2010 earthquake. The organization was present and ready to assist in the Port-Au-Prince ‘ground zero’ at the moment tragedy struck. The Hotel InterContinental Miami hosted the event, which drew more than 300 guests.
LOCAL CELEBRITY CHEFS CREATE SIGNATURE DISHES
Eggwhites’ Owner and Executive Chef Gary Lampner united with other local celebrity chefs to offer delicious signature dishes. The goal was to raise money and awareness for IFA. Chef Gary was joined by Haiti native Pierre Pierilien, our Chef de Cuisine of over 15 years. Chef Pierre prepared his signature Shrimp Creole. This event was particularly special to him. He still has family who reside in Haiti and who were greatly affected by the massive earthquake.
The event was hosted by InterContinental Miami General Manager Robert Hill, and emcee Lissette Gonzalez, CBS 4 News Weather Anchor. Chef Chairs for the event were Alexander Feher of InterContinental Miami and Chef Jan Jorgensen of Two Chefs. Chefs Jonathan Eismann (Q American Barbeque, Pacific Time and Pizza Volante), Chef Clay Conley (Azul at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Miami), chef Jeff O’Neil (Gibraltor at Groce Isle Hotel & Spa) as well as Chefs Jonathan Wright and Noah French (The Setai Miami Beach) also participated in this special event. Guests included Burn Notice actress Gabrielle Anwar, Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, Forge proprietor Shareef Mainik, Chairman of the Performing Arts Center Trust Ricky Arriola, and Univision host Rodner Figueroa. Guests enjoyed music by DJ Joe Dert as they sampled our cuisine and bid on the silent auction.
The Chefs with a Purpose: Haiti was born of compassion and urgency to partner with local community organizations in the relief efforts. The event raised $25,000 for IFA’s current and future efforts in Haiti.
